The Dhaka North and South City Corporations have announced plans to remove sacrificial animal waste daily during Eid-ul-Azha.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Shahjahan Mia stated that waste removal operations would begin on the afternoon of Eid, with a target to complete cleanup within 12 hours. “We’ve deployed around 10,000 cleaning personnel, and all necessary vehicles are on standby,” he said during a visit to the National Eidgah on Thursday morning.
He added that requisition requests had been sent to other government agencies to provide additional vehicles if needed. “Private waste collection agencies are also involved in the process. We are fully prepared,” he assured.
Shahjahan urged residents to perform animal sacrifices at designated spots to streamline waste collection. “Even if sacrifices are made outside those areas, our teams will be ready to remove the waste. There will be no negligence in maintaining cleanliness,” he emphasized.
