Bangladesh has begun relocating its embassy staff and citizens from Tehran due to heightened security concerns stemming from the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique said Tuesday that of the 2,000 Bangladeshis living in Iran, about 400 are currently in Tehran. “We’re especially concerned for those in the capital, as they are most vulnerable to potential attacks,” he noted.
Authorities have urged residents to move to safer areas, and formal evacuation efforts are underway. So far, around 100 Bangladeshis have contacted the embassy and a ministry hotline seeking evacuation. Additionally, approximately 40 embassy staff are also being relocated.
