Business Desk :
Dhaka Bank PLC has started a new programme to help migrant workers and their families learn how to use digital financial services safely. The programme is part of the Shafal Programme, a joint initiative of the UNCDF and the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh.
The new initiative, called Digital Financial Literacy (DFL) for Migrant Workers & Families, aims to teach migrant families how to manage remittances, savings, and investments through digital platforms. Dhaka Bank will use its digital channels to provide simple learning tools and videos designed especially for rural and remittance-receiving households, as per media release.
Dhaka Bank, UNCDF, and the Embassy of Switzerland will also create an easy-to-understand financial literacy curriculum. This will help families learn how to use digital accounts, stay safe from fraud and make better financial decisions for the future.
At the launch event, A.K.M. Shahnawaj, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Dhaka Bank, said that the bank wants to ensure migrant families have the knowledge to use digital services confidently.
Senior officials from Dhaka Bank and UNCDF were present at the programme.
The partnership shows Switzerland’s commitment to promoting inclusive economic growth and UNCDF’s mission to support underserved communities. Through this initiative, the Shafal Programme hopes to help migrant workers and their families become more secure and active in the digital economy.
