The Director General of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, has commented that the Consumer Rights Act needs to be reformed.
He made this comment as the chief guest at a seminar titled Consumer Rights Act at the Alampur Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Building in Sylhet on Thursday (May 22) afternoon.
The Director General also said that efforts should be made to provide consumer services to the people collectively. The people are dissatisfied with the Consumer Affairs Department for not getting the services.
Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza Un Nabi presided over the seminar. The keynote speaker was Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Wakkas of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
The welcome address at the seminar was delivered by Mohammad Azizul Islam, Director of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection.
In addition, Alim Industries Managing Director Alimul Ehsan Chowdhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Nurer Zaman Chowdhury, Sylhet Director of Secondary and Higher Education Department Professor Giasuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, RAB-9 Acting Commander Major A.K.M. Faisal SPP, Artillery, SMP Deputy Police Commissioner Sajib Khan and others spoke the seminar.
