Dengue kills 6, near 50,000 cases detected

At least six people have died from dengue fever transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes in the last 24 hours while nearly 50 thousand cases have been detected so far.

Among the victims, five are in Dhaka, and one is from Chittagong. During this period, 1,298 new dengue patients have been identified.

This raises the death toll to 247, and the total number of confirmed cases to 49,880, according to the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

The bulletin stated that due to dengue transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, another 1,298 people have been hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours, with six fatalities.

Among the deceased, four were residents of the North Dhaka City Corporation, one from the South Dhaka City Corporation, and one from Chittagong. This brings the total death count for the year from this mosquito-borne disease to 247. Among the newly infected, 468 are from the two city corporation areas of Dhaka.

Additionally, there are 282 in the Dhaka division, 196 in the Chittagong division, 83 in the Barisal division, 146 in the Khulna division, 38 in the Mymensingh division, 42 in the Rajshahi division, 36 in the Rangpur division, and 7 in the Sylhet division who have been newly hospitalized.

In the two city corporation areas of Dhaka, 468 individuals were identified in the last 24 hours, with 242 from the North City Corporation and 226 from the South City Corporation being hospitalized.
