Dengue death toll rises to 64

The country reported another death of dengue patient in 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 64 across the country.
As per the data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 240 more patients were hospitalised during this period with the viral fever.
The DGHS data suggested that the dengue cases are kept rising nationwide.
According to the data the latest death was reported from Dhaka division raising the death toll in the division to 33.
The dengue death toll in Chattogram division remained unchanged with 26 and in Barishal division with five.
The data also suggested that 192 of the new patients were admitted to different hospitals in
Dhaka and 48 outside of the capital city.
It said also that a total of 2,282 dengue patients, including 1,725 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
This year, the DGHS recorded 19,523 dengue cases and 17,177 recoveries so far.
Last year, 28,429 dengue-infected people were admitted to hospitals, while 105 of them died.
Officials from Dhaka South and North City Corporations have blamed late rain fall due to climate change for the sudden surge of the dengue cases.
