Dengue claims 4 lives 1121 hospitalised

In the past 24 hours, at least 1,121 individuals have been admitted to hospitals due to dengue, with four reported deaths.

This year, dengue has claimed the lives of 241 people, and a total of 48,582 have been hospitalised, Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services reported.

The Health Directorate reported that there are currently 3,954 dengue patients admitted to various public and private hospitals across the country, including 1,874 in Dhaka and 2,080 in other divisions outside Dhaka.

The Health Directorate reported that the highest number of deaths this year occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation, with 124 deaths.

This was followed by 36 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 27 in the Barisal division, 25 in the Chittagong division, and 12 in the Khulna division.

There were 9 deaths in the Dhaka division, 2 in the Mymensingh division, and 1 each in the Rajshahi division and Chittagong City Corporation.

According to the Health Directorate, the age group most affected by dengue this year is those between 21 and 25 years old.

In Bangladesh’s history, the highest incidence and mortality from dengue occurred last year, when 321,179 people were hospitalised and 1,705 died. September of last year saw the highest number of dengue deaths, with 396 people dying and 79,598 being hospitalised at that time.
