Two more people died of dengue in the last 24 hours, raising this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 396.
In the same period, 516 patients were admitted to hospitals, bringing the total dengue cases this year to 97,829, according to the Health Directorate’s report on Sunday, December 7.
Both recent deaths were residents of Dhaka South City Corporation, the highest number of hospitalisations (127) in the last day occurred in Dhaka North City Corporation. Other regions reporting hospital admissions include Dhaka, Chattogram, Barisal, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Rangpur, and Sylhet divisions.
This year’s dengue fatalities are highest in Dhaka South City Corporation (183 deaths), followed by Dhaka North City Corporation, Barisal, Chattogram, and others.
Barisal division recorded the most dengue cases (20,978) while Sylhet had the fewest (394).
