Bangladesh Iron and Steel Importers Association has organised a reception programme for the board of directors of FBCCI, the apex organization of businessmen and industrialists. The reception was organized at the Officers Club of Dhaka on Sunday night.
Senior Vice President of FBCCI Amin Helali, Leader of Sammilito Babosayi Parishad, Director of FBCCI Mir Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Nizam Uddin Rajesh, Amir Hossain Noorani and the leaders of the board of directors of the organization for the period of 2023-25 were present in the event.
President of Bangladesh Iron and Steel Importers Association, Abu Jar Giffari Jewel sought the cooperation of FBCCI in overcoming the existing VAT tax problem and crisis in the iron and steel sector.
He demanded to prevent the misuse of bond facilities, withdraw advance tax, and levy at actual cost to save the sector. Besides, he demanded to increase government policy support for the development of this sector.
Amin Helali said, the iron and steel sector leaders should come up with a specific proposal. FBCCI is ready to provide all kind of assistance.
Alhaj Nasir Ullah, General Secretary of the organization, Kazi Habibur Rahman Habu, Vice President, Mahmud Alam, President of Keraniganj Steel Traders Association sought the government’s cooperation to resolve the existing crisis in the iron and steel sector.
The speakers said that the government gets a revenue of about 4500 crore of Taka annually from this. But if the policy support is increased, the revenue of the government would increase further. Besides, new investors were encouraged. At the end of the meeting, the FBCCI directors were handed over the crest by the organization. Besides, the invited guests participated in the dinner.
