Defence concluded quizzing PW-11

The defence in the trial of Bagerhat Razakar trio Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master, Khan Akram Hossain, and Abdul Latif Talukder yesterday concluded cross-examination of 11th prosecution witness Hazra Zahidul Islam at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
Islam alias Monnu, 61, submitted his testimony against the trio yesterday (Sunday), accusing them for apprehending, confining, torturing and subsequently killing five innocent civilians in 1971.
Yesterday advocate Mohammad Abul Hasan, counsel for Siraj Master and Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, counsel for Akram and Latif, cross-examined the witness.
Meanwhile, after conclusion of the cross-examination, Sheikh Fozor Ahmed (PW12) submitted his deposition in part. The tribunal adjourned the hearing till today, leaving the testimony of PW-12 incomplete.
The ICT-1 issued warrant to arrest them on June 10, 2014, and Latif was nabbed by police on that very day. Akram was arrested on June 20 and Siraj on July 21.
The ICT-1 on November 5, 2014, indicted the trio and framed seven charges of crimes against humanity.
