Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday warned that signs of new conspiracies by the defeated anti-democratic forces have become increasingly visible.

“To mark the first anniversary of the historic July mass uprising, we initiated a programme to unite all political parties in remembrance of that struggle-demonstrating our collective stand against fascism,” he said. “But even within a year, we are now witnessing emerging signs of conspiracies from the forces we once overcame.”

Dr Yunus made the remarks while speaking at a meeting with leaders of 13 political parties and alliances at his official residence, Jamuna, in Dhaka. He had earlier held separate meetings on Tuesday night with four key parties, including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

The Chief Adviser called upon political leaders to reinforce and demonstrate their unity more visibly in the face of fascist threats-despite their political rivalries and ideological differences.
“Otherwise, the fascist elements will interpret our divisions as opportunities for resurgence,” he cautioned.

All participating political parties reiterated their firm commitment to upholding political unity and resisting fascism. They urged the Chief Adviser to take firmer measures to ensure law and order across the country.

The leaders also reaffirmed their support for the ongoing reform initiatives, the trial processes, and the roadmap to elections. They called for more frequent and inclusive dialogues with political stakeholders as part of a broader national consensus to resist authoritarian forces.

Among those present were CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, Gano Forum’s Dr Mizanur Rahman, BSD’s Bazlur Rashid Firoz, JSD leader Tania Rob, Gano Sanghati Andolon’s chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, AB Party leader Mujibur Rahman Manju, Nagorik Oikya’s Shahidullah Kaiser, Gano Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Noor, LDP’s Redwan Ahmed, Khelafat Majlis leader Dr Ahmed Abdul Quader, Biplobi Workers Party’s Saiful Haque, 12-Party Alliance’s Shahadat Hossain Selim, and Rashtra Sangskar Andolon’s Syed Hasibuddin Hossain.
