With the aim of fulfilling the dreams of the people, the new political party of the youth ‘National Citizens Party’ (Jatiya Nagrik Party) made its debut on Friday.
The names of the nominees for the top positions of the party were announced in the presence of lakhs of people on Manik Mia Avenue in capital Dhaka.
The new party is led by the students who originally led the July uprising. The 151-member committee of this new youth political party has been announced with Nahid Islam as its convener and Akhtar Hossain as member secretary.
The names of the top eight leaders of the convening committee have also been revealed. In addition to chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, the party includes Abdul Hannan Masood, Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Samantha Sharmin, Dr. Tasnim Zara.
Apart from the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement from all over the country, leaders of various political parties, diplomats, former government officials, family members of martyrs of the July mass uprising and wounded warriors were present at the debut ceremony of the new party.
Representatives of expatriates who played an important role in the movement, people of various ethnic groups were also present at the event.
Oppressed students of various classes and professions who created the context of mass uprising also participated in the event.
In the past, we have seen the image of strong ideological antagonism between the political parties of the country.
However, we hope Jatiya Nagirak Party will show the mindset of putting the interests of the country above all else.
There may be political conflicts but in the larger interest of the society and the state, it can be expected that they will not introduce the mindset of ‘opposition for the sake of opposition’.
Not for the purpose of power or authority, but for the welfare of the country and the people, it is expected that this new political party will initiate a good political trend in the society.
We hope that this party of young people will be able to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people of the country.
The wisdom and foresight of young leaders will usher in a new era in the politics of this country.
