The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a strong warning to foreign nationals residing and working in Bangladesh without the necessary documentation.

The ministry has set a firm deadline of 31 January 2025 for individuals to regularise their status by obtaining the required permits.

In an official notice issued on Thursday, the ministry stated that failure to comply with this directive will lead to legal action against both the undocumented foreign nationals and the institutions employing or harbouring them.

Authorities have stressed that strict measures will be taken to address non-compliance.

The announcement pointed out that a significant number of foreign nationals are currently living and working in Bangladesh without the appropriate legal documentation.

The Home Ministry has urged these individuals to take immediate action to secure the proper permits in order to legitimise their stay in the country.

Additionally, the ministry has called on relevant departments, organisations, and employers to cooperate in ensuring that all foreign nationals under their responsibility comply with the deadline.
