The floating body of missing fisherman Siddiqur Rahman (30) was recovered by Charduani Naval Police and Fire Service personnel from the Baleshwar River in Patharghata upazila under Barguna district.The body was found in the Tengra area along the riverbank on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier, around 12:30 am on Wednesday ,Siddiqur Rahman had gone fishing on the river with a small boat and net from Boro Tengra village.
He was expected to return home around 5 am, as usual, but never came back.
According to family members, despite extensive searching, no trace of him could be found. Eyewitnesses believe he may have died during a severe storm accompanied by lightning on Wednesday night.Md. Shahadat Hossain, Sub-Officer of Patharghata Fire Service, said, “We rushed to the scene upon receiving the information and, with the help of the naval police, recovered the floating body
.”Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patharghata Police Station, said, “The naval police were deployed to recover the fisherman’s body.
Legal procedures will follow after the post-mortem examination.”
