Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has issued 12 directives to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs), highlighting the importance of providing citizen services without hassle.

On Friday (28 March), the Cabinet Division forwarded these directives to the DCs through an official letter. The letter instructed that all public services-such as the issuance of birth certificates, national ID cards, passports, and land registration-must be delivered in a corruption-free and harassment-free environment. It also emphasised that DCs should carry out their responsibilities without fear or intimidation.

The directives urged DCs to focus on the proper execution of their duties while refraining from offering unnecessary praise of the government. One of the instructions specified that passports should be issued without requiring police verification. Furthermore, special attention was called to maintaining stable commodity prices and law and order, as well as ensuring the efficient delivery of land registration, birth registration, and national ID services.

The letter also stressed the need to address coordination gaps between various departments and agencies. Officials were instructed to strictly adhere to legal guidelines while performing their duties, with a particular emphasis on avoiding intimidation, lobbying, or flattery. According to the Cabinet Division, the government is closely monitoring the activities of DCs at the field level.
