Business Desk :

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has launched the second edition of the DCCI Journal of Business and Economic Policy and the Tax Guide 2025-26 to help businesses stay updated on taxation and economic trends.

Commerce Ministry Secretary Mahbubur Rahman unveiled the publications at an event at the DCCI Auditorium on Saturday. PRI Chairman Dr Zaidi Sattar and NBR member GM Abul Kalam Kaikobad attended as special guests.

DCCI president Taskin Ahmed said the Chamber has been publishing the Tax Guide for four decades, adding that widening the tax net, full automation and simplification of policies are essential to raise tax-to-GDP ratios.

He said the new journal includes research on macroeconomics, skills, international trade, LDC transition and monetary policy to support informed policymaking.

Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman said the economy has not yet reached its desired targets and urged stronger research, especially on Rules of Origin, to accelerate reforms.

Dr Zaidi Sattar warned that poverty risks could rise without employment growth and called for export-oriented industrialisation and faster trade policy reforms.

NBR member Kaikobad said online tax payments are increasing, with 2 million people already paying digitally, and expressed hope that the number will reach 5 million this year. He said digitisation will ensure more transparency.
DCCI vice president Md Salim Solaiman and board members were also present.
