Chandpur Correspondent :

A day-long, free medical camp on “Diagnosis of Breast and Uterus Cancer & How to Treat Them at the First Stage for Survival” was held on the premises of the 250-Bedded Chandpur Government General Hospital on Wednesday. It was the first of its kind in Chandpur.

The camp was jointly organised by Chandpur Rotary Club and the Gynecological Oncology Society of Bangladesh (GOSB) in collaboration with the authorities of Chandpur Government General Hospital. In addition, BRAC, Rotary Club of Canterbury (UK), and Dhaka Safe Life Foundation also extended support to make the camp successful.

An expert team of doctors from Dhaka, including Dr Sabera Khatoon and Dr Ononna, examined female patients who came from near and far across Chandpur Sadar.
Dr AKM Mahbubur Rahman, Superintendent of Chandpur Government General Hospital, along with gynaecologists Dr Tabenda Akter, Dr Nusrat Jahan, and Dr Anjuman Ara Fancy, extended support to the camp. A group of senior staff nurses also assisted the team in conducting patient check-ups.

According to the organisers, Chandpur Rotary Club President Mostafa Mia and Secretary Rafiqul Islam, over 200 female patients with breast and uterus-related issues received free treatment from morning to afternoon. Among them, three patients were diagnosed with uterus cancer. They were properly prescribed and advised on how to receive appropriate treatment and cure the disease at the preliminary stage for survival.

Speaking to the NN correspondent, three female patients, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their satisfaction with the treatment and thanked the camp organisers.
