Shakib Khan, whose Eid-ul-Fitr’s film ‘Borbaad’ created a storm in the
theatres but disappointed with another film by him, ‘Antaratma’.
The film was pulled from the cineplexes before the end of its first week.
The movie failed to attract audiences even on single screens.
The reason for the failure of the movie ‘Antaratma’ was its lack of promotion. Although he was vocal about ‘Borbaad’, Shakib Khan was completely silent about ‘Antaratma’. Others did not play much of a role. However, Darshana Banik, the heroine of the movie ‘Antaratma’, was an exception. This Tollywood actress is still promoting the movie, proving her professionalism. The movie ‘Antaratma’ is showing in about 21 theatres this past Friday, almost two months after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Darshana shared the hall list of ‘Antaratma’ on Facebook and invited people to watch the movie. Even though Darshana couldn’t physically come to Bangladesh, ‘Antaratma’ posted regularly on social media and gave interviews to the news media.
In other words, she has tried to handle the task of promoting ‘Antaratma’ single-handedly. When the movie was taken down from the theatres after its release, the movie would have done better if it had been promoted over time.
The actress also believes that negative comments about ‘Antaratma’ before its release have delayed the film.
Darshana said, “With a little more discussion, a better release time could have been fixed for the movie. Then the publicity could have been greater. Besides, there has been a lot of negative discussion about ‘Antaratma’ for no reason. But no one who has seen the movie has said anything bad about it. The movie ‘Antaratma’ is still running. I don’t know what the commercial results will be in the end. But let the audience watch the movie, because we get joy only when the audience watches the movie.”
