Former US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena has expressed optimism about the future of Bangladesh’s labor market, highlighting the country’s potential to become a major global production hub. He emphasized the need for real empowerment in education and labor, advocating for dignity and respect for all workers.
Mozena made these remarks on Thursday while addressing a webinar as the chief guest, held to mark International Labor Day. The event was jointly organized by the Washington-based School of Leadership (SOLE) USA and Banglaeer Patshala.
Speaking at the summit, Mozena said that by effectively utilizing its vast labor force, Bangladesh has the potential to become one of the world’s leading production countries. He also praised the role of SOLE in developing leadership skills and fostering growth in various sectors of Bangladesh.
Reflecting on his diplomatic career, he shared insights and data, including his experience managing the aftermath of the Rana Plaza tragedy.
The virtual summit brought together leaders and experts from over 25 countries. Bangladeshi lawyer Dr. Golam Rabbani Nayan Banglalipi, founder and chairman of SOLE USA, presided over the event.
In his welcome address, Dr. Rabbani highlighted the need to promote Bangladesh as a source of skilled and quality labor on the global stage. He said that by assuring international stakeholders of the competence of Bangladeshi workers, the country can attract more garment orders and increase manpower exports.
