Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) hosted its first-ever TEDx-licensed event, TEDxCUET, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the university’s Central Auditorium. Themed “Resilience: Rising Beyond Limits,” the event brought together a diverse lineup of speakers to inspire and engage students through powerful talks and idea-sharing sessions.
Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University, attended as the special guest speaker, while CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan served as the Chief Patron.
Distinguished academicians including former vice-chancellors of CUET, USTC, and RUET, and CUET’s Civil Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, as well as Professor of Genetic Engineering from the University of Chittagong, also shared their insights.
Other notable speakers included Adnan Mannan, CEO of Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd.; Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman, CEO of Rankon; astrophotographer and digital artist Zubair Keolin; clinical nutritionist Muhammad Sajal; and Zakaria Jalal, Head of Projects at Bashundhara Chemical Industry Ltd.
The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Moazzem Hossain, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare, while Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Director of the Institute of Energy Technology and TEDxCUET Advisor, also spoke.
Hosted by students Tanaem Mohammad Tanim, Adid Rahman, and Zarif Mohtasim from the Computer Science and Engineering department, the event was organized by final-year student Obaidullah Afzal and co-organized by Adil Raihan.
TEDxCUET featured inspiring speeches, innovative ideas, expert discussions, and interactive networking sessions. Over 200 students participated, making the event a vibrant platform for motivation, learning, and exchange of transformative ideas.
