Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET)’s ‘Team ESRO’ has become the world champion in the ‘Global Space Challenge 2025’ organised under the auspices of the US space research agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
This team from CUET’s Andromeda Space and Robotics Research Organization won the title of winner by scoring 499.8 out of 500 in the senior (high school and higher) category.
The seven-day competition ended on Friday. It was organized by the US-based organization Space Teams Academy.
The competition was held in three categories – elementary, middle school and senior high school.
More than 40 teams from more than 15 countries participated in it. More than 40 teams from more than 15 countries participated in this competition organised by Space Teams Academy. Out of these, the CUET team won the senior/high school category.
In this competition, which lasted for seven consecutive days, the contestants showcased their skills in various fields including planetary science, spacecraft design, orbital mechanics, remote sensing, entry-descent-landing, extraterrestrial habitats, human and robotic exploration.
In addition to winning the title of world champion, the CUET team also won the ‘Best Team Video’ category.
The members of the winning team, Team ESRO, are Sajeeb Kumar Kar and Shuvo Ahmed, 4th year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of CUET, Adil Mubashar, 3rd year student of the Department of Computer Engineering, and Sudipta Banik, 1st year student of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
