Before officially assuming office, the elected representatives of the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) and Hall Parliament took oath.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the university’s Sociology Faculty auditorium on Thursday. CUCSU President and University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Yahya Akhtar administered the oath.
A total of 26 elected representatives of the central parliament took oath at the ceremony. In addition, 236 representatives from 14 halls and one hostel parliament were supposed to take oath, but many were absent.
In the CUCSU elections, candidates from the ‘Sampritir Chhatra Jote’ panel, supported by Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, won 24 of the 26 central parliament posts.
One post was secured by a candidate from the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal-supported panel, and one by a candidate from the ‘Binirman Chhatra Oikya’ panel.
Ibrahim Hossain Rony, elected from the Chhatra Shibir panel, took oath as VP, and Sayeed Bin Habib as GS. Chhatra Dal-backed candidate Ayubur Rahman Toufiq took the oath for the AGS post. Shibir panel candidates won 17 out of 18 editorial posts and took oath.
CUCSU Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Ariful Haque Siddiqui said, “The last task of the CUCSU Election Commission is to administer the oath to the elected representatives. We completed the oath-taking ceremony in a very pleasant atmosphere at the auditorium of the Faculty of Sociology. With this, our duty has ended.”
