A two-day strike called by Chattogram Customs Agents Association has been suspended after the chairman of the National Board of Revenue assured to discuss the demands of the C&F agents. On Monday, C&F agents started working at Chattogram Custom House, the country’s largest revenue generator.
He said, “The Chairman of the National Board of Revenue has written a letter expressing his interest in discussing our demands on February 7. Out of respect to him, we have suspended the strike.”
Earlier, the Chattogram Customs Agents Association started a two-day full-day strike from morning. As a result of this Bill of Entry submission, customs duty practically stopped. At this time, the C&F agents gathered at the gate of the custom house. Chattogram Customs Agents Association General Secretary Kazi Mahmud Imam (Bilu) told the media that the C&F agents started working at 4:30pm on Monday (January 30).
