The government plans to start a train on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route this year.
Meanwhile, the construction of the railway line from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar has been completed.
When the rest of the work is done, the train will leave the tourist city on Cox’s Bazar route.
A train has been prepared at Patiya Station in Chattogram for a trial run.
It has 6 buggies and a 2220 series engine.
These bogies brought from Korea can sit 60 passengers in each.
Possible date has been fixed on October1 5. On that day, the train will run from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar.
At present, the railway line from Sholashahar to Dohazari in the city is also being renovated in full swing.
After three to four months, the Bangladesh Railway authority will transport passengers on this route.
It is reported that the cost of the entire project has been estimated at Tk1 billion.
Of this, the cost of construction of the Cox’s Bazar Railway Station is Tk20 crores.
Work on the overall project has already been completed.
A little bit of work has left.
In the first phase, a 90.5km single line dual gauge track has been constructed from Dohazari to Ramu to Cox’s Bazar.
The second phase will be constructed from Ramu to Myanmar to Ghumdhum, a 26.22km single line dual gauge track.
Abul Kalam Chowdhury, Additional Project Director of Dohazari Cox’s Bazar Rail Line Project, said, “I hope a trial can be run from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar shortly.
Although we run trial in September, it will take two to three months to travel commercially to the passenger transport.
We will try to start the train on this railway within this year.
Meanwhile, construction work of five stations has also been completed.”
