Boi Mela 2025: Crowds surge on 11th day with new attractions

The 11th day of the Ekushey Boi Mela 2025 is proving to be another busy one, as crowds continue to swell throughout the day.

While the fair opens at 11 am on weekends, on weekdays, it starts at 3 pm. Despite it being a Tuesday, the scene at the fair mirrors the buzz of the holiday weekends.

Mehdi Hasan, a regular visitor, shared his excitement: “I’m really enjoying my time at the fair. I come every year to explore and buy many books.”reports UNB.

When asked about any noticeable changes compared to last year, he remarked, “There’s a significant difference this time. Under the previous government, we saw more books by their affiliates, but this year feels more balanced and much better.”

Farzana, visiting with her family and children, expressed her admiration for the fair’s setup: “The decorations this year are really impressive. The entire setup feels fresh and different. As for my favorite books, I always look for works by Humayun Ahmed, and I’ll be picking those up again this year.”

While the foot traffic was initially slow, vendors reported a steady increase in turnout as the day went on. One seller noted, “At the start, the crowd was a bit sparse, but now people are buying books, and we’re hopeful that sales will keep growing.”

In addition to the bustling book stalls, food vendors are also experiencing a rise in customers. “This year, there are many new food options—everything from fast food to other varieties. The crowds are definitely larger than before,” said one food vendor.

As the fair continues, both book enthusiasts and food lovers are finding plenty to enjoy, and vendors remain optimistic about the event’s continued success.
