Temba Bavuma will lead a 15-member South Africa squad in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, set to begin on 11 June at Lord’s.
This marks South Africa’s maiden appearance in the WTC Final, having topped the standings with a points percentage of 69.44.
The squad sees a key boost with the return of fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who makes a comeback after missing the home series earlier in the year due to a groin injury.
Fully fit now, Ngidi has already featured for South Africa in white-ball cricket in 2025 and has participated in multiple global T20 leagues.
The Proteas have mostly retained the core of the team that faced Pakistan, with only two changes. Young left-arm quick Kwena Maphaka has been left out to accommodate Ngidi’s return, while batter Matthew Breetzke also misses the cut.
The batting unit features top-order options Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, and Aiden Markram. Talismanic captain Bavuma will anchor the middle order alongside Tristan Stubbs and David Bedingham. Wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne is expected to provide stability lower down the order and behind the stumps.
South Africa’s bowling attack will be spearheaded by Kagiso Rabada, with support from Jansen, Mulder, Ngidi, Dane Paterson, and Corbin Bosch.
