Sylhet Bureau :
After a long decade and a half, a three-day Level-1 cricket coach training course has started in Sylhet division. The training started on Wednesday (29) October morning at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
A three-day training will be held in Sylhet division to produce skilled coaches under the initiative of the Game Development Department of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and in collaboration with the Sylhet Divisional Sports Organization.
The Level-1 cricket coach coaching course will be held from today (29 October) to next Friday (31 October). The coaching course is being conducted by an experienced coaching team and necessary training materials. 32 trainees from Sylhet division are participating in this course voluntarily. The first two days will be trained by BCB senior coaches Md. Suhel Islam, Talha Zubair and Mizanur Rahman Babul. On the third and last day, BCB coach educator Imdadul Haque, fielding coach Ashiq Majumdar and senior trainer Murshed Caesar will provide training. Those who complete the BCB approved coach course will be recognized as Level-1 coaches. They will later get the opportunity to serve as coaches in various schools, colleges, universities, clubs, academies, upazilas and other cricket development programs in the country.
Such a great initiative is a very timely event for the cricketers of Sylhet division, especially players of different age groups. Which will make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the regional cricket structure in Sylhet. This is an important and milestone initiative for cricket in Sylhet. After almost a decade and a half, a joyful atmosphere prevails in the sports arena of Sylhet, which is organizing such a coaching course. Various clubs and sports sponsoring organizations expect that this event to produce skilled coaches with the joint support of BCB and Sylhet Divisional Sports Organization will play a leading role in improving the quality of cricket in Sylhet. Former cricketer, coach and sports organizer Ali Wasikuzzaman Ani said, after many years, an initiative has been taken to conduct a ‘Level-1’ course for local cricket coaches in Sylhet division. This matter has been neglected for a long time.
He also said, the last time, probably in 2007-8, former cricketer Zahed Ahmed Chowdhury Bhai and I were able to conduct a Level-1 coaching course. Then there was no coaching course. Commenting on the last 15 years, except for two or four lucky ones, no one has got the opportunity of BCB coaching training, he said, ‘Many former players are working tirelessly in various academies or district levels of Sylhet in various teams or clubs. Those who were not getting proper coaching training. Not only they will benefit from this course, but the real benefit will be our grassroots players. The game has to be improved from this grassroots.’
He thanked the newly elected BCB director Rahat Shams. Because this initiative is being implemented for the new director. He believes that if such courses are not limited to Dhaka but spread to other divisions including Sylhet, more skilled coaches will be created as well as better players will be created. Rahat Shams, Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Ad Hoc Committee Member of Sylhet Divisional Sports Organization, visited the training ground and said that this is not just a training program, but the beginning of a new chapter in the history of cricket development in Sylhet. Cricketers are the lifeblood of the game, and coaches are the soul of cricket.
Stating that talent does not develop without a good coach, and interest is lost without proper guidance, he further said that the importance of this course is immense – our future cricket consultants and guides will be created from here. He congratulated the trainers and trainees of the Coach Coaching Course and wished them continued prosperity.
