The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said it could not locate any office of the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) – the research organisation of Awami League (AL) – in Dhanmondi.
An ACC team conducted a search operation at Dhanmondi 32 and Dhanmondi 6/A on Tuesday at around 1pm, but did not find any existence of an office at either location, said ACC Assistant Director Md Raju Ahmed in a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
He said, “The operation aimed to verify whether CRI spends state money for the institutional activities or for anti-state activities. We searched multiple locations in Dhanmondi but did not find the CRI office.
“The ACC was in the process of collecting preliminary information including banking details, to verify financial transactions. CRI is registered as a non-profit organisation, and we are checking its financial activities accordingly.”
The ACC assistant director also clarified that the operation was part of ACC’s routine investigations.
“Today’s raid was conducted to verify specific allegations based on the available information,” he said.
