Chattogram Bureau :
Chattagram Port Authority (CPA) has resumed the operational activities of its own-funded export-oriented container scanner. This initiative of the port will play an important role in ensuring the security of international trade as part of the implementation of the ISPS Code. The container scanner was installed in February 2024 with the port’s own funds.
This high-quality fixed scanner, supplied by Five R Associates Limited, was being operated by the Chattagram Custom House. Although there was a contract with the company for the maintenance of the scanner, the operational activities were temporarily suspended due to the expiration of the contract.
According to port officials, an effective solution was urgently needed to keep the export-oriented container scanning system operational.
For this purpose, Chattagram Port Authority (CPA) temporarily re-engaged the previous contractor for the maintenance work. In this context Sunday (4 May) the Honorable Chairman of Chattagram Port Authority (CPA), Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman, OSP, NDC, NCC, PSC, officially inaugurated the resumption of operational activities of the export-oriented container scanner. ChattagramCustoms Commissioner, Chattagram Port Member (Harbor and Marine), Director Security, Secretary of CPA and other senior officials of the port and customs were also present at the inauguration ceremony. It is expected that this step of Chattagram Port will be helpful in ensuring transparency and security of international trade as well as maintaining the reputation of the port.
