At least five people, including three of a family, were killed as a truck rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
The incident took place at Hajir Bazar of Toitong union of the upazila around 7am.
Four of the deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Monirul Mannan, Firoj Ahmed and his wife Sharmin Jannat and their six-month child Jahed. The other victim could not be identified immediately.
Quoting locals, Sirajul Mostafa, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pekua Police Station, said a truck crashed into an auto-rickshaw heading towards Chattogram from Pekua, leaving five passengers of the auto-rickshaw critically injured.
