Since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, many artistes have been in hiding. Many artistes’ names have been sued.
In a video message, film actor Omar Sani advised those artistes and he said, “Don’t run away and come out and say that what we did was not right. Those who are cowards, they run away. Why are you artistes running away?”
Omar Sani said in a video of 4 minutes and 33 seconds released on Omar Sani Blogs Facebook page last Tuesday.
He said, “Film artistes and music artistes who have fled after the fall of the government, I will say to them, there is no need to run away. You swayed, were involved with the party, and did not kill. I think rather than running away, I should come out and talk. Some people will abuse, that must be tolerated. Some people will mock, it must be tolerated. But you must hunt down your faults.”
Omar Sani called the artistes who are in hiding to come out in the open and said, “Don’t run away and come out in the open and say that what we have done is not right. If you commit a crime, you will be judged, you can stay on remand for a few days. I do not think that you will be hanged for the crime. Those who are cowards run away, why do you artistes run away? And one or two stupid people, who are fleeing abroad, have no intention of coming back to their country because, they are born cowards.” Sani also said, “Many technicians are running away. I will also tell them, come openly, there is no use in hiding. Get caught, go to jail if necessary. Head of the State, Prime Minister, ministers, MPs, ordinary people like us – many go to jail. Better to be in jail than to be on the run.”
