The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka on Monday sent notorious terrorist Shabuddin Laskar Dira to jail in connection with a case of money embezzlement and theft.
The case, filed at the Kalabagan police station, lists Shabuddin as the chief accused.
Shabuddin had previously secured bail from the High Court and surrendered to the CMM Court on May 14, 2024.
The court granted him interim bail at that time and scheduled a hearing for May 20.
During Monday’s hearing, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court rejected Dira’s bail order and ordered his immediate incarceration.
Conversely, the court released another accused in the case, Rezaul Kabir, on bail.
“The court has acted in accordance with the law, ensuring that justice is served,” a court official stated. “While Shabuddin Laskar Dira has been sent to jail, Rezaul Kabir’s bail application was approved.”
