A court on Wednesday ordered the freezing of 15 bank accounts belonging to former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam in connection with graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The anti-graft body in its plea said there are graft cases pending against the former minister and his bank accounts, which have Tk 3,55,10,183, should be frozen for the sake of proper investigation.
Advocate Qamrul Islam was arrested from a house in the capital’s Uttara-12 area on November 18, 2024, and now behind bars as he have been shown arrested in a couple of cases filed over crimes committed in July-August mass uprising.
