A court on Wednesday dismissed a tax evasion case against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman filed by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for alleged tax evasion.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 Judge Rezaul Karim passed the order on Wednesday as it found the allegations brought against the BNP leader “imaginary and fabricated.”
On July 28, 2008 then deputy commissioner Samia Akter of Dhaka Taxes Zone-6 filed the case, for evading taxes of Tk 26.86 lakh. The complainant had alleged that Tarique from 2002 to 2006 had made an income of Tk 1.07 crore from different sources but failed to pay Tk 26.86 lakh in taxes against that income.
