The main opposition party-BNP will bring out black flag procession today (Tuesday) across the country to press home its demands of dissolution of what they said ‘dummy’ parliament and fresh election under a non-partisan neutral caretaker government.
The announcement was made at a rally in front of the party central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Saturday.
‘On January 30th, you have to take to the streets to protest,’ BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy told the party activists.
The two-day black flag procession was the first programme the party held after the January 7 national election.
As per the announcement, Tuesday’s black flag processions will be brought out across all metropolitans, thanas, districts, upazila and municipalities on January 30 — the first session of the 12th parliament.
On Monday, BNP sent a letter to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) informing the party’s black flag march on Tuesday in the capital.
The party sources said the march will be held at all thanas in Dhaka at 2:00pm.
Killing in border unacceptable: BNP on Monday said that there are no example in the world like Bangladesh border where the neighboring country’s forces kill unarmed people.
“Are there any example of killing thousands of people by the neighbouring country’s forces in borders? If any friendly country kill their neighbouring country’s ordinary people such as the Indian forces do?” BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan said while addressing a discussion meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Monday.
Ziaur Rahman Foundation organised the programme on the occasion of BNP founder late President Ziaur Rahman’s 88th birth anniversary.
