Staff Reporter :
Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association on Tuesday alleged that the corporate companies are now trying to grab restaurant sector. “Big corporate companies are hatching conspiracy to grab restaurant sector.

As per their conspiracy, the restaurants are being sealed without proper scrutiny or investigations,” Imran Hasan, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association, said this while addressing a press conference at its office at Bijoynagar in the capital.

The Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association organised the event to make their stance clear over the recent Bailey Road fire incident where ‘Kacchi Bhai’ restaurant was situated.

The association has demanded the formation of a task force to end random harassment and arrests in the name of raids aimed at ensuring standard practices in restaurants. “Several agencies are operating mobile courts in restaurants.

Additionally, law enforcement agencies, such as Ansar, Police, and RAB, are actively engaged in ensuring food safety with their own magistrates.

It’s a mess. The government already has its regulatory body for food safety, which should be allowed to do their job,” he said.

Holding both the restaurant owners and the government administration accountable for the Bailey Road fire, he claimed that a rampage has ensued in the city eateries after the incident.
