Sylhet Bureau :
As the coronavirus infection is increasing in the country, the Directorate General of Health Services has decided to resume the coronavirus testing system on a limited scale. Initially, this test will start in medical colleges and district hospitals that have RT-PCR labs. Only those who have symptoms will get the opportunity to test.
Professor Halimur Rashid, Director of the Infectious Disease Control Branch of the Directorate General of Health Services, gave this information on Wednesday. He said, “Hospitals that have RT-PCR labs have been instructed to prepare to resume corona testing.”
Initially, testing will be started in hospitals in Dhaka Medical College, Mugda General Hospital, Chittagong Medical College, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisional cities. This facility will be available only in hospitals that have RT-PCR labs in the beginning.
Professor Halimur Rashid said that test kits are being collected from local companies. In addition, instructions have been given to the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) to import kits from abroad. Professor Halimur Rashid said, we hope that the corona testing system can be resumed within the next 10 days – but it will be on a limited scale.
The Directorate General of Health has informed that the testing will be started only for those who have corona symptoms. Halimur Rashid said, if the infection rate increases further, the scope of testing will also be increased.
