At least two villagers were killed in a clash with police men at Kalihati area in Tangail on Friday. The dead were identified as- Kabir Hossen and Faruk in the area. They were died while undergoing treatment in separate local health complex. Over a raping allegation in the area, the villagers had blocked the roads in some parts of Tangail demanding to hand down exemplary punishment to the alleged rapist on Thursday. Following the protests, the villagers also blocked Tangail-Mymensingh highway after Friday prayer (today). While the policemen requested them to vacate the road, the villagers then started to hit police with bricks. Police sources, however, denied any raping incidents in the area recently.
