A High Court Division bench of the Supreme Court has issued ruling on Tuesday asking as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Muneem, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for contempt of court.
A High Court Division bench comprising Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Razik-al Jalil passed the order.
According to the documents, a legal notice was sent to the NBR Chairman for not submitting a progress report following the High Court directives passed on November 8 of 2020, to collect tax and VAT from social media as per the relevant laws of Bangladesh.
Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Humayun Kabir (Pallab) and Barrister Md Kausar mailed the warning notice on behalf of Law and Life Foundation Trust, to the Chairman of NBR on May 19 this year, after he disobeyed the judgment and order of the High Court.
