Labour and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud has directed the formation of a committee to review the funds for the victims of the Rana Plaza and Tazreen Garments accidents.
He issued this directive during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon, reports media.
The labour adviser said: “We will review how well the support for the families affected by the Rana Plaza and Tazreen Garments accidents was implemented during the last Awami League tenure. An investigative committee will assess this and report their findings.”
He further said: “I want one of the victims to be directly in the investigation committee and he will make sure that the real picture is revealed. If there is any money in the fund formed for the victims, it will be spent for them.
Earlier, some of the victims narrated their miserable experiences, as well as various irregularities and corruption in the matter of help, assistance and treatment. Besides, they presented various demands in front of the adviser.

The adviser said that even in the 21st century, there are fears about job security, the working environment, health risks, and even the lives of Bangladeshi workers.
He vowed to do our best to ensure the rights of the workers in the new Bangladesh, where the workers lost their lives in this uprising to build a welfare state with humanitarian dignity.
