Khulna Bureau :
A teacher of Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) has been accused of serious irregularities, political bias and oppression of students. It has been alleged that assistant professor Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman Manik, was previously working in a hatchery in Kotchandpur and although his age at the time of appointment was 45 years and 15 days, the age limit was set at 40 years in the recruitment notice. His studies were in fisheries. Although the recruitment board had 5 members, two of them, including the dean, recommended him. In addition, he was politically active, openly campaigning for the ruling banned Awami League, which many believe is against the code of conduct for government employees.
It is known that the appointed assistant professor, who previously worked as an accountant in a hatchery in the Kot Chandpur area, was 45 years and 15 days old, which is against the condition of being within 40 years at the time of appointment. Although his education was in fisheries, he did his PhD in agriculture. And he got the appointment in the aquaculture department. At the same time, although there were 5 members in the appointment board, only two, including the dean, had recommendations for him. It is alleged that despite being an assistant professor, he used government vehicles personally. He was the president nominated by the Blue Party (Awami League) in the Khulna Agricultural University Teachers’ Association Executive Council elections-2022.
Students alleged that during the student movement, he used the Chhatra League to put pressure on the protesting students and punish them. He even used various inhumane behaviors to discipline the students. According to the students, they were made to fail the exams by lobbying against the protesting students. This matter was never properly taken into account by the university administration. It is known that he directly participated in the Awami League party’s campaign and sought votes under the boat symbol. He regularly participated in processions, meetings, and election campaigns, and was even active in the campaigning and propaganda of the banned Awami League.
