Bangladesh Coastguard Director General Rear Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury at a press conference on Monday said that coastguard is maintaining zero tolerance policy against drugs as per Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s instructions.
Aurangzeb said that, from all the bases, stations and outposts, coastguard officials are cracking down on drugs to save the youth society.
In addition public awareness programmes are also being carried out to alert the locals, he added. He further added that Bangladesh Coastguard seized and destroyed yaba pills worth Tk 293.34 crore in 2016 whereas in 2017 Yaba worth Tk 152.67 crore was seized and destroyed. Besides, in 2018 yaba pills worth Tk 312 crore was seized which is the highest achievement of Coastguard history so far.
