Chattagram Bureau :
Chattagram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has announced a ban on all kinds of processions, gatherings and human chains, street meetings for one month in order to keep the import-export activities of the port smooth and uninterrupted.
The public notice signed by the CMP Commissioner said that under the powers conferred under Section 30 of the Chattagram Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1978, any processions, meetings, human chains, road meetings, etc.
by any political, labor or social organization in the port area including Barrek Building intersection, Nimtala intersection, Jetty Gate No. 3, Customs intersection, Saltgola crossing adjacent to Chattagram Port have been declared banned for the next 30 days from Saturday.
The public notice also said that Chattagram Port is the heart of the economy of Bangladesh.
The majority of the country’s total import and export activities are completed through this port.
About 5 to 6 thousand cargo vehicles move through Chattagram Port every day to transport daily necessities, raw materials for industries, and imported and exportable goods.
Due to this huge volume of vehicles, it is very important to maintain normal traffic around the port.
However, the organization of processions, meetings, human chains, road meetings, etc. in the port area causes traffic jams and disrupts the import and export activities of the port, which is seriously harmful to the national economy.
This information was given through a public notice signed by Chattagram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz.
