Comilla Medical College has been closed for an indefinite period following a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League college unit, over establishing supremacy on the campus.
The administration of Comilla Medical College took the decision in an emergency meeting on Wednesday.
Principal of the medical college Dr Mohsinuzzaman Chowdhury said, the college authorities took the decision to avoid further any untoward incident.
The male students were asked to vacate their dormitories by 11:00am while the female students by 5pm yesterday.
However, the examinations will be held as per schedule and the students, who are taking part in the examinations, will be allowed only to stay in their hostels.
Two groups of BCL activists led by Nawshad and Rahat locked into a clash on the college campus over establishing supremacy after midnight on Wednesday night.
Later, the two groups, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked each other on Wednesday morning over the same issue. At one stage, a chase and counter-chase took place between them that left 10 students injured.
Five of the injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident, said the Principal.
The committee has been asked to submit the report within seven working days.
