Chitralekha in teaching profession for 2 decades

National Film Award winning noted actress Chitralekha Guho
has been involved in teaching profession since the inception of renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel’s film training related institute, Bangladesh Film Institute (BFI), situated in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

Chitralekha takes classes in ‘Film Acting’ and ‘Film Costume Design’ at this institution, which was founded in 2006. The actress said that she has been teaching students regularly for almost two decades.

Chitralekha told this correspondent, “Being involved in the teaching profession has given me a great love for this profession from the very beginning, because I really enjoy spending time with students.

I share my life experiences in every class, which there is no opportunity to share anywhere else. In every class, I also try to enrich myself in various ways. Overall, by being involved in this profession, I see a new world; this world wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t been involved with BFI.” Chitralekha Guho was called ‘Munni’ by her father, mother, and relatives.

She completed her SSC from Aparna Charan Girls’ High School in Chattogram and her HSC from Chittagong College. After marriage, she completed his Master’s in Political Science from Jagannath College. She married renowned art director Uttam Guho, who has won ten National Film Awards, on April 28, 1986. They have two daughters, Nolok and Noyreet.

She first acted in the drama ‘Kunjo Nikunjo’, produced by Nawazesh Ali Khan and written by Momtaz Uddin Ahmed. She also acted in BTV’s first package drama, Atiqul Haque Chowdhury directed ‘Prachir Periye’.

However, she first played the role of a mother in the 1995 drama ‘Kothay Se Jon’. In it, she played the role of Shomi Kaiser’s mother.

After that, she impressed the audience by playing the role of a mother in many more dramas including ‘Sarabela’, ‘Soptorshi’, etc.

She has acted in hundreds of TV dramas. Chitralekha’s first movie was Sheikh Niamat Ali’s ‘Annyo Jibon’. After that, she won the love of the movie-loving audience by acting in some other films, including ‘Lal Saalu’, ‘Lalon’, ‘Swapner Nayok’, ’71 er Maa Jononi’, ‘Moner Milon’, ‘Jibon Dhuli’, ‘Rupsha Nodir Bankey’, ‘Gram Gonjer Piriti,’ ‘Molla Barir Bou’.

November 17 is Chitralekha’s birthday. She first got the National Film Award for acting in Shah Alam Kiron’s ’71 er Maa Jononi’.
