BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with the Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka, Yao Wen, on Monday to discuss various matters of bilateral interest between Bangladesh and China.
The meeting, which lasted about an hour, began around 11 am at the Chinese Ambassador’s residence in Baridhara, according to a BNP leader close to Mirza Fakhrul.
In a post on its verified Facebook page, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh stated that Ambassador Yao Wen had held discussions with the BNP Secretary General. The post noted that both parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
This was not the first meeting between the BNP and Chinese officials. On 21 August last year, the Chinese Ambassador met with a BNP delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
During that meeting, the Ambassador reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh and its people. He also expressed China’s intention to increase investments in Bangladesh to contribute to the country’s development and the welfare of its citizens.
