China firmly backs Bangladesh in its efforts to improve livelihoods and promote social development, standing in solidarity with the Bangladeshi government and people through challenges and successes, said Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Tuesday.
Speaking at a ceremony, Ambassador Yao expressed hope that China and Bangladesh will continue to exchange experiences in modernization and development, advance high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and jointly contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
The event marked the handover of flood response equipment provided by the Chinese government to Bangladesh, held at the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS). Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam and BDRCS Chairman Md Azizul Islam, among others, attended the ceremony.
The donation is intended to strengthen Bangladesh’s capacity for disaster prevention and mitigation. Adviser Faruk extended heartfelt thanks for China’s generous support and highlighted the sincere friendship between the two nations, stressing mutual assistance and solidarity during challenging times.
Noting that Bangladesh is currently in the rainy season, he added that this batch of flood relief equipment will play a vital role in disaster response, safeguarding the lives and property of many people.
