Vice Minister of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Mr. Guo Yezhou said port city of Chittagong is a industrial friendly zone of Bangladesh and China is very much keen to invest in heavy industrial enterprises and as a development partner of Bangladesh.
He disclosed it while addressing the views exchange with the leaders of Awami league and 14 party alliance at Hotel Well Park in the city on Tuesday as chief guest. Following the invitation of the Awami league Secretary general Syed Ashraful Islam while visits China recently, a 6-members CPC team arrived Dhaka and the team members arrive Chittgong on Tuesday morning .
The team members are – Mr. Guo Yezhou, Vice Minister of CPC, Mr. An Yuejun, Deputy director general of International Affairs deptt of CPC , Mr.Yang Chen, Deputy Director of CPC, Mr. Zhou Rong Shui, Second secretary of CPC, Mr. Chen Bin, Second secretary of CPC and Mr. Li Yuanxing, Asstt Secretarty of CPC . The visiting Chinese leaders received by the Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority and Treasurer of City Awami league and other party leaders at Hotel Well Park Residence in city in the morning. After arrival of the Chinese team members, they visited the Chittaong EPZ, Chittagong port and Asian Women University project .
A views of ex change was arranged at Hotel Well Park hall in the evening in honour of the Chinese leaders. General secretary of Awami League, Chittaggong South Unit Mofizur Rahman conducted the meeting while the CDA chairman presided over it. CDA chairman delivered address of welcome on the occasion. Among others Vice chancellor of Chittagong University Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice chancellor of CUET prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam, vice chancellor of Premier University Dr. Anupam Sen, former VC of CU Dr. Arif Iftekhar , President of CCCI Mahbubul Alam , leaders of 14-party alliance and media personalities were present in it. In his welcome address, the CDA chairman said port city of Chittgong became a commercial hub from ancient time but after emergence of Bangladesh Chittgong port turned as the main sea port of Bangladesh. He said within short span of time Chittagong has developed tremendously in trade, commerce and industrial sector. Bangladesh govt declares Chittagong as commercial capital of Bangladesh, he added.
The chief guest Mr. Gou Yezhou said China is a vast country and it achieved overall progress in all sectors under the leadership of Communist Party. The country is now in a position to serve as role model for developing sister countries like Bangladesh. He also emphasized the need for connectivity to China from Bangladesh through Kunming province of china.
He also disclosed that under the great leadership of Mas Tse Tung, china became a world power and top economic viable country globally. He also mentioned that GOB has allotted 25 acres of land on south bank of river Karnphuli to build a industrial park there.
He further said Chinese entrepreneurs are keen to invest in the port city for power sector. He also hoped for cementing the Bangla-China relationship and possible cooperation to Bangladesh in the field of trade promotion. He also hoped for long live of Bangla-China friendship . At conclusion of the meet, the chair thanked the Chinese diplomatic team for visiting the port city and reminded them about the ongoing project in the port city with Chinese cooperation including Water project of Rangunia , Madunaghat, Karnaphuli tunne, Deep seaport at Sonadia and railway development projects.
