China-Bangladesh Investment, Trade Conference on June 1

Staff Reporter :

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) will host the China-Bangladesh Conference on Investment and Trade on June 1, aiming to boost foreign investment and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.

The daylong summit is being jointly organised by the governments of Bangladesh and China. According to BIDA sources, the event will bring together approximately 250 Chinese investors and business delegates from nearly 100 companies, including senior executives from six to seven Fortune 500 firms.

BIDA officials have described the delegation as the largest Chinese business group to visit Bangladesh to date, marking a significant step forward in bilateral trade and investment relations.

In a further indication of China’s interest in Bangladesh as a strategic investment destination in South Asia, representatives from four major Chinese chambers of commerce are also expected to attend.

The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, with China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao attending as the special guest.
BIDA sources note that the summit builds on momentum from Yunus’s recent official visit to China and the International Investment Summit held in Dhaka last April.

These engagements have paved the way for enhanced collaboration, with potential Chinese investments anticipated in infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, and export-driven industries.

The conference agenda includes sector-specific sessions focused on energy, ICT, e-commerce, and construction, aimed at pinpointing actionable investment opportunities. BIDA remains hopeful that the summit will not only attract new Chinese capital but also foster sustainable industrial partnerships between the two countries.
