The Fire Service and Civil Defence have recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy from the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram’s Hamidchar area on Wednesday.
The victim, Rahat Khan, was a seventh-grade student at Sanowara Boys High School in Chandgaon and a player for the Chattogram Brothers Union Junior Cricket Team.
According to the Chattogram Division Fire Service Control Room, Rahat’s body was found floating in the river and later handed over to the local police.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Quddus of Chandgaon Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that Rahat had gone missing the previous day. “Today, his body was recovered,” he said.
Police have launched an investigation to determine who Rahat left school with and where he went before the incident.
